About Cloud CSV synchronization

2025-11-13Last updated

Cloud CSV synchronization is the integrated tool for managing and synchronizing identity information from exported CSV files in Genetec ClearID™.

Using Cloud CSV, you can map user information exported in CSV format from your third-party identity management system to identity fields in ClearID.

You can synchronize CSV files containing text-based fields, dates, and pictures by mapping the fields from a template file.
  • The CSV template file must have a header row and contain at least one row of data.
  • Dates and paths contained in the file must be in double quotations.
  • Picture data contained in the file can be expressed as a relative path, absolute path, or Base64.

About Genetec ClearID Local Agent

Cloud CSV relies on the Genetec ClearID Local Agent to monitor a configured folder for changes to the CSV files it contains. When the local agent detects a new file, it pulls the information into ClearID and updates the identity fields.
  • The local agent must be installed and run on the same system where you store your CSV files and access the ClearID portal.
  • To communicate with ClearID services, the local agent creates an API integration.
  • The latest .NET Framework is required to run the local agent.
  • The local agent is a service that runs on port 9000.
  • The local agent cannot run if a service is already running on local port 9000.

Synchronizing data from multiple CSV files

In cases where different identity information is stored in different third-party systems, you can add multiple Cloud CSV synchronizations to pull information from the CSV files generated by each system into the same identity.

For example, you might store identity information like employee names, departments, job titles, and more in your HR system, and store employee ID photos in a separate system. Ensuring that CSV files exported from both systems contain a column with the same External ID values lets ClearID link information from both sources to the same identity.
