Creating exceptions to the access request approval workflow

In Genetec ClearID™, an access request workflow is a series of activities performed by the system or authorized people during the life cycle of an access request. To bypass the access request workflow for certain types of requests or roles, you can modify an area's access request approval workflow settings.

Before you begin

Create an area and define its access request approval workflow.

What you should know

All access requests for an area must follow the steps for approval set by the chosen access request workflow. You can create exceptions to this approval process when certain users or roles make access requests.

For example, you can automatically approve access requests made for users who belong to a VIP or Upper Management role. You can also automatically approve requests if the requester is the Supervisor of the person for whom the request is made.

You must be a Site owner or Area owner to set exceptions to the access request approval workflow for an area.

Procedure

  1. In the Genetec ClearID™ web portal, click Organization > Site > Area > General .
  2. Under Access request approval workflow settings, define exceptions to the access request workflow set for the area as needed:

    If the request approval workflow is set to Automatic approval, the Access request approval workflow settings section is hidden.

    Site owner
    Automatically approve access requests when the requester is the Site owner.
    Area manager
    Automatically approve access requests when the requester is the Area manager.
    Area owner
    Automatically approve access requests when the requester is the Area owner.
    Supervisor of the request recipient
    Automatically approve access requests when the requester is the Supervisor of the identity that is the request recipient.
    Role manager of the request recipient
    Automatically approve access requests when the requester is the Role manager of the role for which the access request was made.
    Role owner of the request recipient
    Automatically approve access requests when the requester is the Role owner of the role for which the access request was made.
    An active member of any selected role
    Automatically approve access requests when the requester is a member of a listed role.
  3. Click Save.
